[CEBU] COD4 Team makes it’s mark

So after 4 months of playing in public servers, [CEBU] Call of Duty 4 (COD4) team decided to have a match… yeah it took 4 months to gather a solid team which has the skills and player instincts to get into a real match. It was our firstt scrim ever and will always be remembered since we were not playing against just some ordinary players but a clan which brings the name PLDT with them, the [77th] Infantry Brigade.

[77th] is a group of players that started with Counter-Strike and were real hardcore killers when COD4 started. The only good COD4 servers in the Philippines were hosted by PLDTPlay. [77th] were feared in those servers not just because of their skills but since they have admin control of it.

So after recruiting one more player in [CEBU], it was time for a match. April 19, we started posting about wanting to have a scrim in PLDT Play & TipidPC forums where most of the active Philippine COD4 clans/players were and telling them were free on Friday April 25. We got a reply from the clans [77th] and FnF, both undefeated. No confirmation yet, but both of them were interested. Wednesday, April 23, we got a go from [77th] and then got a go from FnF on April 24. Since it was our first match ever and everyone from [CEBU] was hungry for battle, we accepted both matches. Scrim with [77th] will be at 9:30pm and then with FnF probably around 11pm … thats how long I thought the match would be.

April 25, game day. 8pm [CEBU] team

[CEBU] Alpha Unit
[CEBU] EroSennin
[CEBU] Kimmy
[CEBU] Plankton
[CEBU] Lt.Bowser
[CEBU] Assasin
[CEBU] Redfox
[CEBU] Alastor
[CEBU] zAchKillz
[CEBU] On S|ght

… gathered in Xfire, TeamSpeak and the COD4 server which [CEBU] EroSennin created for practice. We talked bout strategies, knowing the maps better and knowing each other’s capabilities better.

9:30pm came and it was time for the match with 77th. Seeing their player names reminds us how much these players dominated the servers. Names like Kevv, lilRamen, Dracs, Desperado, Jorren and the rest were familiar names to all of us. We all knew they had more match experience.

So the game started and it was very intense, both teams were well prepared. Rounds ended with a tie breaker, ups and downs, everyone played like it was their last. The game lasted from 9:30pm - 12am. The results have been posted previously.

These were the settings agreed upon …

Gametype: Sabotage (8 players a side; Hardcore mode)

Rules:
- No GL’s
- No Martyrdom
- First to 3 rounds each map
- Best of 3 maps

Server:
PLDTPLAY COD4: Infiltration (58.71.20.232:28963)

A very tight match, but in the end [CEBU] won the game. 12am and we got out of the servers and seems like Iwas missing something … the FnF match! So I asked the team and they were like… “no… di na kaya… were so tired and drained” and I felt the same too. I chatted with FnF leader Mau and told him we couldn’t make it and were very sorry. I felt so bad since FnF waited for hours for us to finish. So again deepest apologies to Mau and the rest of FnF.

We went back in the server and had fun screenshots with [77th] as agreed after the game.

In other news, top seeded Philippine COD4 player Perennial and his buddy BloodSh0t joined [CEBU]. The team never expected it. Everyone was so excited of having them in the team and all the more wearing the [CEBU] tag with them in the servers. We will be looking forward to having them in our practices and the next scrims.

So thats about it for now, [CEBU] is growing stronger and making its name in every game in every server we play on.
